The 1969 Firebird
Base Firebird
The standard Firebird came with Pontiac’s Over Head Cam straight 6-cylinder, 250 cubic inch engine. With 1-barrel carburetor producing 175 horsepower. The standard transmission was a 3-speed manual. The base model was available in 2-Door Coupe or Convertible.
Sprint
The Sprint models came with the higher compression 250 cubic inch straight 6-cylinder engine. The engine produced 230 Horsepower with a 4-barrel carburetor. Standard transmission was the 3-speed manual, an Automatic was optional. Available in 2-Door Coupe or Convertible.
Firebird 350
The 350 came with a 265 horsepower V8 engine with 2-barrel carburetor. The 3-speed manual was standard, a 4 speed and Automatic transmission were optional. Available in 2-Door Coupe or Convertible.
350 HO
This model came with the High Output 350 cubic inch V8 engine with 4-barrel carburetor. They came with larger valves and a cam with higher lift and longer duration producing 325 horsepower. The 3-speed manual was standard 4 speed and Automatic transmission were optional. Available in 2-Door Coupe or Convertible.
Firebird 400
The 400 was available with three different 400 cubic inch V8 engines. The base was the 330-horsepower engine. A 335 horsepower HO Ram Air III engine. And, the Ram Air IV 345 horse power Engine. The 3-speed manual was standard, 4 speed and Automatic transmission were optional. Available in 2-Door Coupe or Convertible.
Trans Am
The Trans Am came with Heavy Duty suspension, special hood, racing stripes and rear spoiler. 2 engines were available for the Trans Am. The Ram Air III and the more powerful Ram Air IV 400 cubic inch engine. The 3-speed manual was standard, 4 speed and Automatic transmission were optional. Available in 2-Door Coupe or Convertible.
