1967 Oldsmobile 442 – Owned By Chris S.

This fast and mean 1967 Oldsmobile 442 is proudly owned by Chris S. Except for paint and roll cage, Chris did all the amazing work himself. The beautiful restoration took him 13 years and I’m sure it was a labor of love. The car was originally owned by an elderly woman from a small town. The 442 rolled out of the showroom equipped with all the power options, a bench seat, column shifter and Air Conditioning. Chris believes that the salesman must have swayed the little old lady to purchase the 442. I’m sure you would agree. Because, even back then the 442 must have been way too powerful of a car for her.

What a luck guy!

Chris is only the 3rd owner of this beautiful 442 which had only 90k original miles when he purchased it. The well-maintained car was garage kept for its entire life and while stripping the car to bare metal during the 13-year restoration only some small spots of rust were found on the front fenders, and the at the bottom radius of the front windshield.

Chris’s Oldsmobile 442 – Interior

Interior and Exterior.

Painted in the original metallic gold color with added pear to give the 442’s finish more depth and luster. The interior is completely factory original, except for the roll cage and the racing seats.

Chris’s 1967 442 – Engine

Power.

The modification to the drive train includes a BBO 455 cubic inch engine with iron heads, a Turbo Hydromantic 350 transmission with 4200 RPM stall converter, and at the rear a Ford 9” differential with a 3.89 gear ratio. Dyno tested at 395 hors power and 570 ft-lbs of torque to the rear wheels. Wow!

Chris’s 442 – @ The Track

Performance.

At the track, the car runs all day in the 11’s on engine power alone, and when Chris sprays the magic juice the car runs in the 10’s.
