Built by Gary & Pam Beineke this race version G-Series Plymouth Superbird and Dodge Daytona are a tribute to the ’71 NASCAR season that never was. Tested at NC “Race City USA” A2 Wind Tunnel. Chrysler performed wind tunnel development on a 3/8 scale model until NASCAR changed the rules for the 1971 season banning wing cars. A full-scale version was never built by Chrysler.
Gary Romberg one of the original aerodynamicists that worked on developing the wing cars at Chrysler is now the technical director at AeroDyn & A2. The cars were built using Chryslers notes and data from the 3/8 model tests in the 70’s. The data and notes were donated to the Wing Warriors Car Club by Chrysler. Romberg was on hand to see a project he worked on over 40 years ago get built into a full-scale version.
